How would you like to make sure you’ll get all of our releases for 2020 upfront? Well, if you’re into that then our new label membership may well be for you.
That’s right, you can now buy a 2020 label membership for Reckless Yes which will mean you get all of the albums, EPs and singles we release next year plus some other goodies too. For us it means we’ll be able to further support our artists to make money from their music, and see that money sooner, while for you it means you get a load of amazing new music to delve in to. We think that’s what you call a win:win.
You can choose a vinyl, CD, or digital membership depending on your preferred format and if you’re already a member of Last Night From Glasgow you can add on a Reckless Yes membership (or join both labels at the same time).
Reckless Yes co-founder Sarah Lay said, “Our personal experiences of the music industry showed us lots of aspects which could be done more ethically or collaboratively and since we began working with artists as Reckless Yes we’ve looked at how to set about changing things to benefit them – and music fans – more. The time is right for us to launch a membership. Reckless Yes is a family, and membership is about growing that family again. We’ve had a huge couple of years and have an even bigger one planned for 2020 and we want to offer people different ways to get involved with that, and support our artists and hear their music.”
Reckless Yes co-founder Pete Darrington said, “I’m really excited to be launching our new membership scheme – we always say that Reckless Yes is a family and now we’re extending that family to those lovely people who buy our records and keep us in business. It’s not just about getting records cheaper and before they’re in the shops either, we’re planning all kinds of cool things – we want to give something special back to those people who’ve supported us so you really should sign up! We’re also partnering with the excellent Last Night From Glasgow label which means twice the amount of exclusive noisy goodies will be available to you lucky people. What are you waiting for?”
Why become a member of Reckless Yes?
We’re an ethical label working collaboratively with our artists, in a way which sees them keep hold of all their rights and have creative control over how their music is shared.
Through membership you’re helping us ensure our costs are kept as low so the most money is returned to the artist as soon as possible. This is at odds with the way most of the music industry runs – where costs are high due to large teams and the artist rarely sees a return on their release – and for artists who want to remain somewhat independent helps to manage their risk and the investment needed to create music.
At a time where there is more music than ever released but it’s harder for artists to make money we believe membership is a way to show support in a practical way.

Working with Last Night From Glasgow
One of the membership options is a partnership with not-for-profit label Last Night From Glasgow, which has run on a patronage model throughout its three years in business. They have an enviable roster including RY faves Bis, Broken Chanter, Domiciles, Sister John and Slime City among others and are set on calling out industry bad practice, and stop ways of working which undermine the artists on which the industry depends. They did a great interview with Sarah over on Popoptica if you’re interested in reading more.
Reckless Yes co-founder Sarah Lay said, “We’ve found a kindred spirit in Last Night From Glasgow and are really excited to be joining forces with them to further our shared ethos of collaboration not competition. Artists across our rosters are already playing live together, and the joint membership provides an opportunity for fans to discover even more music they love while supporting independence and ethics in the industry. Both labels have found ways to challenge the status quo and this shared step is a big one toward reimagining a record label not only as curator but force for social good.”
Their 2020 is looking huge – a planned 6 LPs and 5 EPs plus gigs and other bits too – and we think the joint membership option is a cost effective way for fans to get their hands on everything for both rosters while being a way we can collaborate for the benefit of our artists.
