Ahead of a 2021 release London-based band Bitch Hunt join independent label Reckless Yes. They are among a flurry of new signings to the label being announced throughout this month.
For The Rabbits described them as spanning the middle ground between Hole and Elastica, while Get In Her Ears sum up the London-based queercore 4 piece Bitch Hunt’s sound as being ‘filled with catchy, scuzzy hooks, a subtle tongue-in-cheek wit and gritty deadpan vocals’. They say their influences run from Radiohead to Weezer. We, quite simply, love them.
Forming at First Timers Fest and following a split cassette release with adults on For The Sake Of Tapes, Bitch Hunt join the Reckless Yes roster ahead of a 2021 release – details on this to follow.
The band said of signing with the label, “Here’s a tiny bit of light in what’s been a pretty dark year. We’re thrilled to say we are on board with Reckless Yes, and excited for you to hear what we have for 2021. Hanukkah Sameach!” (means happy hanukkah).”
Sarah Lay, co-founder of Reckless Yes, said: “I absolutely adore the music Bitch Hunt are making – it’s catchy, danceable, witty and powerful. Having them join us ahead of the new music they’ll be releasing next year is a real pleasure and, as ever, a huge privilege.
“We love the raw energy of the band and can’t wait to amplify their voices, and support them to bring their vital and vibrant music to a wider audience.”
Pete Darrington, co-founder of Reckless Yes, said: “I knew from the moment I saw the video for their single ‘Spaceman’ that it’s our duty to be working with this band.
“Spiritual daughters of Kathleen Hanna, Bitch Hunt aren’t just queer and proud, they’re queer and angry but deliver the perfect 21st century manifesto with a wicked sense of humour. Unashamedly catchy and raw but brimming with intelligence, Bitch Hunt are The Slits for the 2020s.”
