Eilis Frawley is set to release debut single ‘illusions’ on 25 October 2019, the first track to be taken from her forthcoming EP – Never Too Emotional – slated for release in early 2020.
An innovative mix of drum and spoken word the track premieres on Lola Mag today. They said, “The debut solo release from Eilis Frawley automatically puts her in the ‘amazing drummers who also happen to be incredible solo artists’ category, alongside Phil Collins. But while Phil was content to smash out saccharine, shiny pop hits, Eilis has delivered an avant-garde track that tackles the trials of our modern lives.”
They went on to add, “The track features Krautrock-precision drum rhythms overlaid with straight and true spoken word vocals. If we had to pick two musical reference points, we’d say it has the attitude and style of Tune-Yards coupled with the experimental swagger of Battles.”

Talking about ‘illusions’ Frawley said it was, “ a driven pop song that takes you on a rollercoaster reflecting both the calm and chaotic parts of daily life. The song explores the various masks we wear in society – how we portray ourselves on social media, how we communicate with loved ones and our relationship to strangers.”
A classically trained percussionist Frawley was active on the DIY scene in South Korea before moving to Berlin where she also plays in Party Fears and I Drew Blank, as well as being a co-founder of Bang On. She plays a handful of UK dates at the end of the month.
