Ahead of release on 2 October 2020 the second album from Order of the Toad, Re-Order of the Toad, has been made available for pre-order over on Bandcamp.
Order of the Toad are a total trip and you really need to hear them rather than have them described – but Monorail Music said it best: “Melodically, Order of the Toad have something of a medieval fixation, filtered through late 60s influences which end up sounding something like Jefferson Airplane – not least in vocalist Gemma “The Wharves” Fleet’s powerful lung-force – mixed with British psyche heat.. think Kaleidoscope or even Syd Barrett drug-damaged whimsy. There’s no other band doing this in the UK that we know of, a musically rich tapestry woven from strands outside current trends”
The band is made up of Gemma Fleet (The Wharves), Robert Sotelo (Upset The Rhythm) and Christopher Tayler. Glasgow-based this is their second full length release and a first collaboration for us with our pals at Gringo Records.
The 3 July marks a great day to get on board as Bandcamp are waiving fees again, meaning 100% of sales (including pre-orders) made today comes to the labels and artists.
We’ll be introducing the album with the release of single Lady’s Mantle on 17 July. You’ll be able to get this digitally in all the usual places and you’ll get an instant download when you pre-order the album too.
That album is available on black vinyl with stunning artwork by Raissa Pardini, CD, and digital download. Streaming will follow on release.
The band’s self-titled debut album was released via Cusp in 2018 and has been described as “Laurel Canyon hippiedom x medieval inflection + early REM spareness = OOTT. Except nothing like that”. Their forthcoming second album – Re-Order of the Toad – picks up on these themes and is unique in sound, exploratory and wholesome in approach.
Pre-order Re-Order of the Toad
You can pre-order Re-Order of the Toad on black vinyl, CD and digital download on Bandcamp now. You’ll get an instant download of single Lady’s Mantle.
