Breakup Haircut continues toward the release of their debut album with new single ‘Marie Kondo’’, out digitally Wednesday 13 April via Reckless Yes.
FFO blink-182, Worriers, and Mountain Goats ‘Marie Kondo’ brings you joy as uplifting harmonies dance with bubbling bass, the idea of being able to settle into the security of a quiet life radicalised and just out of reach.
About the track guitarist and vocalist Ishani said, “I wrote the words to Marie Kondo after my housemate moved out and I had the brief luxury of a place to myself. It’s kinda about the fragility and false security of living in rentals, constantly looking out for where you might need to live next, aware that you might be asked to move any time, but also, wanting to settle in and actually buy some fucking houseplants that you won’t kill.”
Forming at First Timers Fest in 2019 this is the first new music since signing with ethical independent label Reckless Yes, and follows debut EP ‘What Do You Expect? I Got It Off The Internet!’ released on Hell Hath No Fury Records in 2019. With a sound defined by humorously relatable lyrics, boppin’ basslines, and making a legitimate, concerted effort not to use the same three punk drum beats over and over again the band is already pricking up ears and has landed live slots supporting Big Joanie and at Wales Goes Pop!, Bigfoot Fest, and Loud Women Fest.
Much anticipated debut album ‘Punk Dancing For Self Defence’ will be released on limited CD and digital on 15 July 2022. A packed selection of modern punk-pop prime cuts the album keeps the band’s scrappy DIY spirit while refining their sound, and singles ‘Maria Kondo’ and previous release ‘Out Of My Way (I’m Not Getting On The Nightbus’) are the perfect introduction.
