LIINES are among the shortlist of band’s in the Loud Women HERcury Prize 2018 for their debut album Stop-Start, which was released on Reckless Yes in May this year.
The HERcury was set up in 2017 by Loud Women in contrast to the Mercury Music Prize, and to highlight the creative work of British-based female musicians, female identifying musicians, and female-led bands. The winner will be announced at Loud Women Fest on 15 September in London.
Joining them are Nervous Twitch for their album I Won’t Hide, released on Odd Box. You can catch both bands and Bus Stop Madonnas at our show at Rough Trade Nottingham this week – come down on 1 August and see them all for £5 adv or £8 on the door. More details here, tickets here.
Also on the shortlist are ILL – in which LIINES bassist Tamsin also plays – and Suggested Friends, fronted by Faith from new RY signings Chorusgirl. The baker’s dozen shortlist is packed with albums we’re big fans of here at RYHQ including Dream Wife’s debut, Sink Ya Teeth, Crumbs and Shopping – there’s going to be some tough choices to get to a winner from this strong showing!
Last year Pet Crow were named on the shortlist for their 2017 Reckless Yes release A Simple Guide To Small And Medium Pond Life – last few copies on aquamarine vinyl available here.
If you’re not already a fan or a follower of Loud Women then make sure you follow them on social media – they are doing great things supporting women in music and challenging the status quo. See the full HERcury Prize 2018 shortlist here.
LIINES vinyl is currently sold out online with the last few copies of their 7″ single and debut LP available at gigs – including this week’s Reckless Yes at Rough Trade show.
