Set for release on 20 October 2017 the second LP from Unqualified Nurse Band, Trashland, is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp.
A split release between us and the band’s own Medicine Music label the album follows on from 2016’s debut Debasement Tapes and is released as they begin a UK tour in support of Lightyear.
With their debut the Derby three-piece deconstructed the last 60 years of rock n roll in a blistering 30 minutes of which The National Student said, “You can hear innumerable bands, styles and influences floating in and out of Debasement Tapes but can never quite put your finger on them as the band expertly traverse the rock universe with incredible skill. ‘No Peaks No Troughs’ could be a new Thee Oh Sees single, or a classic Dick Dale surf tune without the polish, or a Joy Division off cut – or none of these things!
“‘Death Will Stalk You’ is an undoubted standout. Built on a classic rock riff fed through enough pedals to drain the national grid, it is a track that oozes pure passion, anger and hatred. It is packed with expletives as Jones screams, “He says all music is dead. He’s a fucking cunt and I don’t care what he says,” it feels like a vital piece of angst-driven vitriol against the people dwell in the past. Unqualified Nurse Band kill the past in favour of the future.”
The band then went on to release double-A single Death Surf A52 / White Dove with Too Pure Singles Club, peaking at number 74 in the UK Official Physical Singles Chart.
And now they’re back with a second long-player – remarkable because it comes less than two years into their time together as a band but more so for its musicality.
From the rock n roll deconstruction of Debasement Tapes there comes Trashland’s melding of the pieces, diving deep down the rabbit holes of sound for another listen which is both immediate and rewarding on repeat listens.
