How our membership works
- You choose your tier and pay a one-off shipping fee
- We’ll send you our latest physical releases (in an estimated 3 shipments through the year) or you can access our digital vault any time
- You can check in to our private members community for chat, updates, and exclusives from our artists giving you the choice to enjoy our releases on your own, or as part of a community
- We’ll use subscription money toward the cost of our releases – and crucially this isn’t a cost we’ll be trying to recover through sales before paying our artists. And so you know – Reckless Yes is run as a not-for-profit and we (Sarah and Pete) don’t individually earn anything from the work we do, it all goes back into the label.

Our 2022 releases
In 2022 we’re expecting to release 5 vinyl albums and 5 other format albums or EPs. As 2020 and 2021 showed us things can change at any time but we have a full schedule planned.
This means if you take out a vinyl membership you’re saving around £100 compared to buying those records individually on release – and you’re helping them even get made while doing so!

Why membership matters
Now more than ever joining us with a membership is not only a way for you to discover new music you love and help artists get paid fairly, you’ll be directly contributing to that music being released.
COVID and Brexit have hit music and musicians hard. We’re facing challenges we’ve never faced as a label before. If we’re totally honest it’s been touch and go whether we would even be here for 2022. But we are…
The money you spend on a membership directly supports our artists to have their music released.
A typical release on vinyl, CD and digital (not including rehearsal or recording costs) will cost around £5000. This is for a basic release, nothing fancy. Cut out promotional costs, licensing, shipping etc and you’re still looking at around £2000 MINIMUM.
With gigs only just starting to return, and shops disrupted due to lockdowns, and publications and radio stations prioritising bigger artists it is harder than ever to connect music to those who will love it. And it’s nearly impossible at grassroots level to make a profit on your music.
We help with that – membership fees offset the costs of releasing music and we cover as much of the promotional costs as possible (without seeking to recoup that investment) meaning artists reach break-even faster. Once in profit we split 50/50 on physical sales (typical industry deal is 70/30 to the label), and take a minimal percentage on digital streaming.
But, and this is key…
The more members we have the better the deal for our artists.
We get enough members and we can cover the full cost of each release meaning our deal is then a split on proceeds, not just profit. We think this model is the one of the key ways record labels can still be relevant these days – but we need your help to make it happen.

The first step to becoming a member is to choose your subscription tier. Where our releases are available on your chosen format that’s what you’ll receive – but everyone gets access to our digital vault for lossless digital format downloads of every release in the year.
Platinum: Vinyl Plus membership 2022

Releasing music in 2022
It’s always been hard to be an independent artist but never more so than in 2022. It’s why your membership is so vital to keeping music alive but also why our subscription may look a little different this year:
- vinyl production is under severe pressure meaning delays are likely on this format even when the longer lead times (of 8-10 months currently) are met
- colour shortages mean even though we order eco (as the most sustainable, least wasteful way to produce vinyl) the colour you get is more than likely to be solid black
- costs of manufacturing of all physical formats have risen – we’re trying to minimise impact to you without negatively affecting our artists
- cardboard and paper shortages mean we may not be able to use our usual mailers or packaging options
- shipping costs have risen and are more complicated than ever. This means we’ve had to take the hard decision to make our membership available only in the UK in 2022 (something which doesn’t sit easy with us for lots of reasons but is sadly necessary right now). International music fans are recommended to order individual releases through their local record shop (who can order in through Cargo or their partners) or on Bandcamp (we really do recommend record shops for those outside the UK though).
