The 19th of December 2015 was much like any other annual instalment of that date. Falling in the midst of short days where the crows were silhouetted against dark skies at the starting and the leaving of each office confinement. Where a sigh would hang in the cold air and there was not the slightest tingle that something was about to happen.
But it was.
Because from a single Facebook enquiry about an entirely run of the mill Louder Than War thing has grown Reckless Yes. And here we are, just about 6 months from that first online conversation, to launching our record label and running our first big gig. Isn’t life wonderful and funny like that, sometimes?
Yes – today is BIVOUAC day!
For the first time in 20 years these alt-rock legends will play their hometown and we’re so excited to be promoting this show. As excited about them live as we are about them on record because a gig wasn’t quite enough.
Tonight we launch our label with Bivouac’s comeback single – a double A side of new track Sweet Heart Deal and a reworking of an unreleased nineties’ track Deep Blue Sea Surround. It’s on beautiful pale green vinyl and in a gorgeous sleeve.
It’s the first in our catalogue and both Pete and I are so thrilled to be putting out a brilliant record but a band who are important to our personal and local music histories.
A vinyl only release tonight’s gig is the first time you’ll be able to get your hands on it before it goes on general release in the shops and online.
Tonight’s gig:
Bivouac with support from The Hudson Super 6 and Babe Punch
Hairy Dog, Derby
£12 on the door
Doors 8pm
If you can’t get to Derby then Bivouac also play Worcester (17th June), Bristol (18th June) and Leeds (16th July).
