We’ve teamed up with our pals at Last Night From Glasgow records to offer a full day of workshops aimed at unsigned and independent musicians working toward successful music careers.
To be held on 16 March 2019 at Stereo in Glasgow sessions on the day will be run by Sarah Lay (Reckless Yes) and Ian Smith (Last Night From Glasgow) as well as some special guests. All will share their knowledge and skills in the music industry and show independent artists can find success without waiting on the industry to do it for them.
You can expect to hear how to make money as an independent musician, how to do your own PR and build a fan base online as well as getting your chance to dig deeper with a panel Q&A.
Tickets for the event – which takes place ahead of a special gig to celebrate Last Night From Glasgow’s third birthday – are limited and you can express your interest in attending here.
Sarah Lay, co-founder of Reckless Yes and head of creative and A&R also runs agency Noble and Wild, offering support to independent musicians, and has spent a long career as a music journalist. She said, “I think this is a really exciting event – although it seems a little unusual for two independent labels to be telling artists we’re not needed what we’re really saying is it’s a choice. If you want to be unsigned by choice, or you aren’t quite ready for the support of a label then we can help you get the skills and the knowledge to go it alone.
“Having worked with independent artists all these years staying independent is daunting to many as they either don’t have the money to self-fund, don’t have the relationships to get coverage or the best gigs, or they don’t have the skills or time to work up to a better place. The sessions on this day will help tackle all of that and whether you want to be an independent artist long-term or you hanker for a deal this will give you the skills you need to get to a position where the industry is asking to work with you.”
Tickets cost £10 with workshops running 11am to 4pm, lunch included and entry to the birthday gig where Cloth, Sister John, Annie Booth and Foundlings will perform. Express your interest here to be in with a chance of getting one of the limited places.
