The latest addition to the Reckless Yes roster is electro-indiepop three-piece Mighty Kids – and we’re really pleased to welcome them and introduce you to them here.
The band are set to play the Church Stage at Reckless Yes’ favourite festival Indietracks on 28 July 2018 and we’ll be releasing their debut EP Won’t You Reconsider the day before they hit the stage – it’s out digitally and on limited edition CD on 27 July 2018.
Sarah Lay, co-founder of Reckless Yes said, “With touches of Saint Etienne, Yazoo, and Mega Emotion Mighty Kids sound is a sublime mix of electro and indiepop, underpinned by subtle but striking lyrical emotion. Lead single Dust is full of hazy summertime vibes and the rest of the EP brings in disco beats, melancholy uke, and understated potential.
“It’s an honour to have them join the Reckless Yes family and I’m even more excited than usual for Indietracks now I’ll get to see them play the Church Stage.”
Pete Darrington, co-founder of Reckless Yes said, “I’m especially excited to finally be working with Mighty Kids as this particular deal has been two years in the making. In 2016 Sarah sent me their debut track to play on my radio show and I loved it. I contacted the band hoping for more material only to be told due to other commitments the project was on hold.
“Hopefully my endless nagging was what beat them into submission as they finally picked up where they left off. The EP is a spellbinding slice of electro dreampop perfection – definitely worth the wait!”
Mighty Kids said, “We’ve been a fan of Reckless Yes since they started and we’re really honoured to be part of what feels like a really happy family, if your family were all really cool writers and musicians.”
You can find the band on Facebook and if you’re at Indietracks make sure you’re at the church early so you don’t have to experience them live with your ear pressed up against the window because you were too late to get into the pews.
