Even through the city lights there are a billion stars pinpricking the sky above us, our breath mists in front of us.
I am definitely clapping. I might be making an excited squeeing noise and bouncing slightly on the spot.
Pete is rolling his eyes and looking vaguely embarrassed.
But he’s smirking too.
Because we just found Reckless Yes its first home.
We’ve been talking about it for weeks and now we’ve been out, wandering about our city, looking for somewhere to lay our hi-hat for the first gig. We’ve peered in darkened windows of abandoned shops and stood in the back rooms of pubs. We’ve tried to talk ourselves into why places were right when they clearly weren’t. We’ve discounted places on the font they use on their advertising.
We have, in short, been hard to please.
Which is why it was with joy unfettered that I grinned and bounced at Pete when we walked into the place that is now, officially, home to the first Reckless Yes gig.
We’ll be gathering four bands and hopefully a small audience on Thursday 12 May 2016, welcoming one and all into the place we think is perfect for our DIY show.
Where? Oh, we’ll let you know soon.
